In memory of His Majesty King Harald V

It was with great sadness that we received the news of the passing of His Majesty King Harald. King Harald served as Patron of the Norwegian Scientific Academy for Polar Research for many years. He had a strong interest in both the Arctic and Antarctica, and visited Svalbard and the Norwegian Troll Research Station in Antarctica on several occasions. His patronage was of great importance to the Academy and to Norwegian polar research.
